mss; I
v li
9
I
Ms. Diane Hinson
202/150-4150
March 29, 1989x
Page 2 j
i
I
i
1. Texaco would drill, log and sample (5-foot intervals) i
soil borings (SB) 1, 2, and 3, in the vicinity of the
removed product dispensers (see Figure 1) . These
borings will be used first, to determine the extent of p
soil contamination; second, the depth to groundwater; P
a,nd third, the angle needed to adequately drill and
sample beneath the canopy (the angle is not to exceed
45 degrees off vertical, for safety reasons) .
1
2 . Drill, log and sample angle borings (AB) 1, 2, and 3 to
determine the extent of subsurface contamination below
the canopy.
I
3 . Texaco reserves the right to drill additional borings,
as needed, to determine the extent of hydrocarbon
contamination.
4 . Drill and install three 4-inch PVC monitoring wells
(MW) . Each well would be completed with a bentonite
and cement grout seal. Representative groundwater
samples would be obtained from each well and submitted
for laboratory analyses.
j
5. All samples would be field screened on site with a
PAoto-ionization detector (PTD) . Selected soil samples
will be submitted for laboratory analyses. All
submitted samples will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline; benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) ; tetra-ethyl lead
(TEL) ; and ethylene dibromide (EDB) .
I
Texaco would like to begin the site work as soon as possible, and
has scheduled a drilling rig for April . Therefore, we are
formally requesting that this proposed work plan be given
priority review, as outlined in the communication from Jogi
Khanna dated December 29, 1988 . Please bill the Sacramento
District Office of Groundwater Technology, Inc. for the review
fees.
C(OYPCD 4
