October 12, 1985
OCT 17 1985
Dana and Yal Davi s
EN1tIROMENTAL HEALTH 22971 Arthur
FERMIT/SERVICES
Escalon, Calif.95386
San Joaquin Calif. Health District
1601 Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, Calif.
Bill Snavely
Dear Bill Snavely,
On October 8, 1985 we asked for a signature in your department for a
form for an ag storage shed. In the process of obtainging appropriate
signatures for the Application for Approval for Construction in San
Joaquin County, your office stated they had no record of our 12183
Septic System Inspection and Approval on our new house. In talking
with you on that some day, we learned "you couldn't do anything and
we would have to get the inspector to come back out and sign off the
form", before we could obtain a permit for the 10185 shed. Jim
Sherman, the Inspector who came out for the trench digging and to check
the depths of the pits on 12183 was also out to give approval to cover the
system and stuck his Pinto in the mud on our property, retailed being here
for the inspection two years ago. However, he required us to "relocate
the lines and tank so he could probe them" on 10-1 1-85. For some ap-
parent reason he has no written record of the 12/83 approval of our septic
system, nor does the Hazelton Office. We requested on 10-1 1-85 that he
reinstitute the paper work to show approval of the 12183 Inspection by
him and he refused. He further stated in answer to our question that we
would probably have to go through this again whenever we apply for later
permits". Having dug the lines and tank for reinspection on 10-11-85 and
having had it inspected on 12183, it would be ridiculous to do this again
in the future. We checked with Clark's Septic Service in Ceres who
installed our system and they stated "they rarely if ever get a copy from
your office showing approval of septic systems they install" and in
checking with the tax assessor they only show a permit number.
Your office shows record of the payment for our Septic Permit 83-1335
in 12/83 but not it's Inspection and Approval. We are requesting a copy of
written documentation for either of Mr. Sherman's inspections on our
septic system that will show Approval and be an acceptable record for
both your office and us for now and in the future.
Sincerely;
