0.0933 in/yr (62 mg N/L) (1 - 0.25) + (9.5 in/yr x 0.1 mg/L)
Nr = (0.0933 in/yr + 9.5 in/yr)
Nr = 0.55 ppm as nitrate -nitrogen (NO3-N)
C.-- DISCUSSION OF THE EXISTING SEPTIC SYSTEMS
In accordance with the request by EHD, the following information describes the apparent
operations of the existing septic system that serves Building G, and at one point in time, the Silos:
An influent tightline exits Building G and connects with the existing septic tank. There is
evidence for this line because the asphalt (AQ had been cut at some point in the past tracing the
line to the tank. Another tightline comes in from a toilet and sink located in the Silos. However,
the influent tightline from the second floor fixtures is exposed near the Silo exit with the piping
exhibiting severe corrosion. Therefore, these Silo fixtures cannot be used until the influent line is
completely replaced.
It is assumed that each of these two influent lines come into the sides of the septic tank. The size
of the tank is unknown, as is the leachfield managing the effluent from this tank. It is assumed the
leachfield, of unknown construction details, extends to the north from the tank.
IV. SEPTIC SYSTEM OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS AND COMPONENTS
A. PROPOSED SEPTIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS AND OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS
TO SERVE BUILDINGS G, B, C, F, H, I.
SSS§ 3.7. The design of the pressurized filter bed disposal system for Building G is based upon the
factors for efficient operation, disposal field longevity, and environmental protection. An overview
of the system operation to serve Building G is as follows: the ADA components are depicted on the
Site Plan prepared by the architectural firm of Ware-Malcomb:
The existing septic stank must be destroyed under EHD permit since it is most likely more than 60
years old and probably structurally unsound. Influent lines from the retrofitted Restrooms in
Building G and from the Silos will be connected to a new 2,000 gallon, two compartment septic
tank. Effluent will gravity from this tank into a 1,250 gallon tank directly adjacent to the south.
The second compartment of this tank will be the pump chamber with a BioTube® filter vault. A
duplex pump system will pressurize the effluent for both transport and disposal. Pumping will be
on -demand and not timed -dose.
The filter bed will be constructed to the southeast of Building G. Effluent will be pressurized
through seven laterals for equal effluent distribution orientated within a filter bed disposal
arrangement. The 100% reserve replacement area is denoted on the Site Plans and is directly north
of the primary filter bed.
Page -8-
rhocHov rn"Vyflt;.n
