APPENDIX G <br />Specific Emerizencv Procedures: BOMB THREAT <br />THE RECEPTIONIST RECEIVING A BOMB THREAT CALL SHOULD: <br />• Keep the caller on the line as long as possible. Ask the caller to repeat the message. <br />Document as much as possible using the Bomb Threat Checklist. (See Exhibit I) <br />• Pay particular attention to peculiar background noises such as motors running, <br />background music and any other clue as to where the call is being made. <br />• Notify the EAP Administrator. When notified the EAP Administrator will: <br />1) Notify the Police Department; <br />2) Notify the Fire Department; <br />3) Announce an evacuation. (The decision to evacuate the shop/office should be <br />made in consultation with the police and fire departments and senior <br />management). <br />IF YOU OBSERVE OR RECEIVE A SUSPICIOUS LOOKING LETTER TO PACKAGE: <br />• Do NOT try to open it, notify the EAP Administrator. <br />• Do NOT put the article in water or a confine space such as a desk or filing cabinet. <br />• If possible, open windows in the immediate area to assist venting explosive gases. <br />• When notified, the EAP Administrator will: <br />1) Evacuate all personnel in the vicinity to a safe distance. <br />2) Notify the Police Department. <br />3) Notify the Fire Department. <br />4) Consult with the emergency services whether to evacuate the entire shop/offices. <br />10 <br />
