Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Unocal Service Station #5098
5606 Pacific Avenue
Stockton California
Dear Ms. Hinson:
Enclosed please find a permit application for the destruction of
two groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 and MW-7) at the
referenced site, as shown on the attached sketch and a work plan
describing the same.
The existence of MW-7 has recently come to KEI's attention via a
letter to the RWQCB from J. H. Kleinfeider and Associates, dated
January 20, 1988. The well was installed by Kleinfelder in late
1987 but was not discussed in any of Kleinfeider's reports that
have been made available to KEI. According to the letter, MW-7
accesses a "deeper zone or second water-bearing zone" .
Per our telephone conversation of September 16, 1988, KEI
proposes to destroy MW-1 and MW-7 because the wells are located
in the area of excavation outlined in our work plan dated
September 2 , 1988. Because excavation is scheduled to begin
September 19, 1988, KEI is left with little time to submit
applications and fees for the destructions. We appreciate your
assistance in approving the permit so that excavation can begin
on schedule. KEI and Unocal understand that additional fees may
be required by your office to expedite the approval.
Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
Kaprealian Engineering, Inc.
9
Jean Semansky
Enclosure
