Training must be documented by a written <br /> description of the topics covered and by a dated signature of the employees receiving the <br /> training. Annual refresher training Is required. The Introduction of new hazardous materials or <br /> changes in procedures requires Immediate retraining. Training requirements that are common <br /> to more than one of these plans only needs to be given once to satisfy all of the pians <br /> containing that requirement as long as the training addresses the concerns of each plan_ <br /> * Training for the Hazard Communication Plan must include the following elements: <br /> * An overview of the requirements contained in the Hazard Communication Regulation and the <br /> worker's rights under the Regulation. <br /> * Locations of any operations in the work area where hazardous substances are present. <br /> * Location where a copy of the written Hazard Communication programs is made available to them. <br /> * How to read labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to obtain appropriate hazard <br /> information, including physical and health effects of hazardous substances in the work place- <br /> How to detect the presence of or the release of hazardous substances in the work place. <br /> * How to minimize their exposure to these hazardous substances by proper use of engineering <br /> controls, work practices, and/or personal protective equipment (gloves, etc). <br /> * Emergency and first aid procedures to follow if employees are exposed to hazardous substances. <br />
