03/22/2005 10:04 2099563045 STOCKTON STEEL PAGE 02/03 Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste: All hazardous materials of significant quantity are listed in our HMMP (Hazardous Materials Management Plan)which is located in the back of our MSDS binder. MSDS binders are kept at both shops,one is located in the West Shop outside the lunchroom and the other is located in the Main Shop in Brian's office. Storage: Hazardous materials must be kept in appropriate containers. If material is a hazardous waste secondary containment is necessary in most cases depending on quantity. All hazardous waste containers must also be labeled with"HAZARDOUS WASTE"labels with the necessary information. Handling: Handling must be done in accordance with manufacture's recommendations. You may refer to the MSDS for information pertaining to proper handling.. Equipment: At all times we must have at our disposal the equipment needed for handling hazardous spills. This includes absorbent(kitty litter), absorbent socksibooms, shovel,waste bucket, broom, and tractor_ Spills: Shop employees must report all hazardous spills to their foreman. The foreman's duty is to have the spill cleaned up using appropriate means and disposing of the hazardous waste in the specified hazardous waste container. HAZARDOUS WASTE DOES NOT GO INTO THE REGULAR GARBAGE.Example, If absorbent or a rag is used to clean up a hazardous waste spill it must be disposed of at the Truck Shop or the West Shop. The Truck Shop has a barrel for used absorbent and the West Shop has a barrel for used rags What is considered a hazardous waste? Here at the plant the following items are the possible predominant hazardous wastes and should be disposed of properly. Any petroleum product such as engine oil,diesel,or hydraulic fluid,paint,or antifreeze. In case of a major hazardous spill beyond Stockton Steel's clean-up capacity: Immediate evacuation of the facility. The following personnel must be notified immediately John Coutts, Dave Collom, Kelly Sain,Elmer Brown, Derric Juano. The local emergency services will be notified. (911) The County Office of Emergency Services will be notified. (468-3962) One of the contracted clean-up companies must be called. These companies are listed in the HMMP which is located in the back of the MSDS binder In case of an earthquake: Immediate evacuation of the facility. All compressed gas lines must be shut off. . Before work can resume all buildings and fueling area must be inspected for damage.
