CLASSES OF FIRE HAZARDSNMENTAL HEALTH <br />Class A — Fires in ordinary combustibles such as wood/paper ENVIRO TMENT <br />Class B — Fires in flammable liquids, such as gasoline OEPAR <br />Class C — Fires that involve energized electrical equipment, where electrocution is a concern <br />Class D — Fires in combustible metals, such as magnesium, lithium & titanium <br />(tse are rare an <br />Class K — Fires in cooking oils and greases such as animal fats and vegetable oils specialized) <br />(as in Commercial Kitchens) <br />II. EXTINGUISHER CLASSIFICATION: <br />These appear on the front label <br />Water type - Class A only <br />Carbon Dioxide - Class B & C only <br />Dry Chemical - Class B & C or A,B & C depending on the type Agent <br />Halon & Other Clean Agents - Class B & C or A, B & C depending on the size <br />Wet Chemical - Class K or Class A,K depending on the brand <br />Ill. OPERATION: <br />Operating instructions appear on the front label <br />1. Verify the extinguisher is properly classified for the fire (do not use a Water on a Class C) <br />2. Pull safety pin from the valve handle <br />3. Pull hose out of holder (if equipped) and hold at nozzle <br />4. Activate cartridge lever (if equipped) to pressurize the extinguisher. <br />5. Stand 10'- 12' as situation demands (too close may spread the fire or subject you to danger) <br />6. Aim at the base of the fire, starting just in front of the fire area <br />7. Squeeze the lever to start flow of the agent, keep agent flowing until extinguisher is empty <br />8. Sweep the flow of the agent from side to side, slightly wider than the fire, and then toward the back of <br />the fire area, never enter the fire area yourself <br />9. Step back and keep watch for a possible re -flash <br />10. Have Fire Extinguisher recharged immediately <br />Remember the word PASS — Pull Pin <br />Aim nozzle or hose at base of fire <br />Squeeze the lever <br />Sweep agent flow from side to side <br />CONCLUSION <br />Always respect fire, never underestimate its dangerous potential <br />> Extinguishers are intended to be used only during the incipient stages of a fire <br />Consult your company's policy as to "iP'and 'when"to fight a fire <br />We strongly recommend calling the Fire Department prior to attempting to extinguish a fire <br />ALWAYS out life first as the highest priority, make sure everyone is SAFE! <br />Attended by: (Signatures Please on back) <br />
