, APR/1,9/2017/WED 02:47 PM FAX No,
April 17, 2017
Geotechnical Engineering Services Plan
DEUEL VOCATIONAL INSTITUTION (DVI) DAIRY BARN
23500 Kasson Road
Tracy, California
WKA Project No. 11425.01 P
CC: awright@wallace-kuhl.com
P. 006
The purpose of our study would be to explore the existing soil and groundwater conditions
beneath the property and to provide geotechnical conclusions and recommendations for design
and construction of the proposed development.
Work Plan
To accomplish our study, we propose to perform four borings at the site with a standard, truck-
mounted drill rig (CME 75). Borings would be advanced using rotary wash, continuous flight or
hollow stem auger drilling techniques. The borings would be drilled to depths ranging from 15 to
30 feet below the existing ground surface, or to practical drilling refusal, whichever is
encountered first. Soil samples would be collected at maximum 5 to 10 -foot -intervals or
significant changes in lithology. One additional boring will be advanced to a depth of 50 to 60
feet below the ground surface, or to practical refusal to evaluate liquefaction hazards.
Prior to drilling, we will mark the boring locations and notify the Underground Service Alert
(USA) to obtain utility clearance. We would take precautions not to disturb underground utilities
that are clearly marked in the field or brought to our attention; however, we cannot be
responsible for damage to unmarked underground utilities or those that are not known to us.
The borings will be grout backfilled with a slurry of neat cement and water in accordance with
requirements of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJEHD).
Investigation -derived waste (IDW) would be stored in properly labelled, 55 -gallon drums in a
location specified by CALPIA. CALPIA would evaluate and dispose of the waste.
Soil samples would be collected from the borings at various intervals by using a Standard
Penetration Test sampler and a modified California sampler. Samples would be taken to our
laboratory for further classification and selection of samples for testing. We would also collect
bulk samples of the anticipated subgrade soils at the borings locations. Selected soil samples
would be tested for, but not limited to, in-situ dry density, natural moisture content, gradations,
unconfined compressive strength, expansion potential, and plasticity index. Near -surface
samples would be submitted to Sunland Analytical Lab for preliminary evaluation of the
corrosion potential of the soils.
Received Time Ap09, 2017 2:48PM No,1284
