Manzo [ EH ] < emanzo@sjcehd . com >
Subject : [ EXTERNAL] 4863 Carpenter Rd Notice to Abate dated 4/5/16
[Warning : External Email]
Hello John,
Regarding the notice to abate issued on 4/5/ 16, according to Title 23, California Code of Regulations, Chapter 16 , the
definition of a sump is : " Sump, " " pit, " " pond, " or " lagoon " means a depression in the ground which lacks independent
structural integrity and depends on surrounding earthen material for structural support of fluid containment .
The eight holding tanks holding rinsate liquid does not meet the definition of a sump . To help address the notice to
abate, the Environmental Health Department will need a written statement regarding how the rinsate liquid is being
managed along with supporting documentation . Per our phone conversation , you mentioned that the tanks are pumped
out daily, or more often if the tanks fill up before the end of working day . We will need that as a statement as well .
Please contact me if you have any questions .
Sincerely,
Aaron Hang
Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County,
i
