k".01 %./
Soil samples submitted for analysis will be selected based
on obvious signs of contamination (i.e. PID readings and
soil discoloration). Selected samples will be analyzed for
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG), total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD), and organic lead (OL). Due
to the high probability that groundwater has been impacted
at this site the analytical results for the soil samples
collected from the capillary fringe will be of particular
importance since any free product present will collect along
this boundary. The samples will be collected, preserved and
transported under chain -of -custody in accordance with
WaterWork's Soil Sampling Protocol (Appendix I).
Samples will be analyzed by Applied Analytical Laboratories
(DOHS Certification ##153), using EPA 8020/8015 and 7421
methodologies.
Subsequent to installation and well development, water
samples will be collected from the monitoring wells after
purging, by pneumatic pump, a minimum of four well volumes
(casing and sand pack) from each well. Stabilization of
electric conductivity, pH and temperature will be checked to
ensure that samples collected are representative of
formation water. The purged water will remain on-site, in
secured 55 gallon drums, until laboratory results are
received. A proposal for treatment or disposal of the water
produced during development will then be prepared. Water
sample collection and preservation will be in accordance
with WaterWork's Groundwater Sampling Protocol (Appendix I).
The water samples will be analyzed by Applied Analytical
Laboratories. BTEX, TPHG, TPHD, and OL by EPA 8020/8015 and
7421 methodologies.
A Problem Assessment report will be prepared according to
Regional Board guidelines summarizing the findings of the
investigation and recommending further action, as
appropriate. The field investigation will be conducted
under the direct supervision of Russell Juncal, Registered
Geologist No. 3864, who will also review and sign the report.
3
