r <br />PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br />A minimum of US EPA level D protection will be required within <br />the exclusion zone for any workers engaged in sample collection <br />or other activities on this site. Level D protection will in- <br />clude: <br />Disposable Tyvek coverall (When in contact with <br />contaminated material) <br />Boots with steel toe <br />° Splash goggles or safety glasses <br />Chemical resistant disposable gloves (When in <br />contact with contaminated material) <br />Level C protection will be required if direct colormetric tube <br />measurements exceeding 10 ppm benzene over background <br />concentration are recorded in the workers breathing zone. Level <br />C protection will consist of: <br />Disposable Tyvek coverall <br />° Boots with steel toe <br />Chemical resistant boot covers <br />° Splash goggles <br />° Chemical resistant disposable gloves (inner) <br />° Chemical resistant outer gloves <br />MSHA/NIOSH approved half -face or full -face air - <br />purifying respirator with dual organic vapor <br />cartridges <br />PID readings exceeding 500 ppm in the workers breathing zone will <br />require work stoppage and site evacuation. An explosion proof <br />fan may be used to vent the work area. <br />DECONTAMINATION <br />During all field operations, care will be taken to minimize <br />contact with soils and groundwater. Drilling spoils and develop- <br />mental water will be stored on-site for proper treatment or <br />disposal. This will minimize contact'and dispersion of poten- <br />tially contaminated materials. <br />
