1� <br />A NA <br />C I Cr ifl It' <br />Working To Restore Nature <br />914 Gr'I ! 3 Psi 1 35 <br />1710 Main Street <br />Escalon, CA 95320 <br />Phone (209) 838-3507 <br />FAX (209) 838-3509 <br />October 12, 1994 <br />150054 01 <br />Ms. Linda Turkatte <br />San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br />Environmental Health Division <br />P.O Box 2009 <br />Stockton, CA 95201 <br />Subject- Contaminant Fate and Transport Evaluation, Corrigan Property, 620 San Juan <br />Avenue, Stockton, California <br />Ms Turkatte• <br />• Pursuant to correspondence dated May 10, 1994 from San Joaquin County Public Health <br />Services, Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD) to Ms Zona Comgan, RESNA <br />Industries Inc (RESNA), at the request of Ms Corrigan, has reevaluated the potential fate and <br />transport of subsurface contaminants at the subject site (Plate 1) As requested by PHSIEHD, <br />this reevaluation was based upon PHSIEHD's assumption that the extent of impacted soil <br />beneath the site may extend from the former tank locations to downgradient well MW1, <br />resulting in a highly conservative estimate of the volume of contaminants remaining at the site <br />• <br />MASS OF RESIDUAL HYDROCARBONS <br />Assuming that the zone of residual hydrocarbons beneath the site is uniformly 4 feet thick, it <br />was estimated that 22 1 pounds (3.0 gallons) of diesel fuel remains in approximately 233 cubic <br />yards of soil The estimated mass of residual benzene was calculated to be 0 014 pounds <br />(0 0019 gallons) in 192 cubic yards of soil The calculations used to determine the volume of <br />impacted soil and the amount of hydrocarbons within the soil are provided in Attachment 1 <br />The estimated extent of residual diesel fuel remaining in the soil is shown on Plate 2 The <br />estimated extent of residual benzene remaining in the soil is shown on Plate 3 Based upon <br />analytical results of confirmation soil samples collected from the excavation floor and <br />sidewalls, the distribution of residual toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and gasoline fuels in the <br />soil is similar to that of benzene (Plate 3). <br />1500541RAD2-994 DOC <br />
