�f <br />J <br />t <br />t <br />t <br />s,d <br />ria ah Inc. <br />An Environmental Services Company <br />LIMITED SITE ASSESSMENT AT <br />VACANT FIELD DIRECTLY EAST <br />SITE OVERVIEW <br />FT t• ;�:ra <br />On July 1, 1989, Uriah, Inc. was engaged by Vito Transport, <br />Inc. of Modesto, California to undertake a limited site <br />assessment of the above referenced -properties on behalf of Vito <br />Transport, Inc. as the prospective buyer of these properties. <br />1789 Charter Way is currently owned by Pet Foods, Inc. which <br />purchased the property from the Ogden Corporation. The <br />contiguous property at 1681 Charter Way is owned by Geo. A. <br />Hormel and Company. The total area occupied by these properties <br />is approximately 195,000 square feet. The San Joaquin River <br />flaws within one mile of the western boundary of the site and <br />the Port of Stockton channel is located one mile to the North. <br />Information regarding historical usage of the referenced <br />properties was acquired through records searches at the San <br />Joaquin Local Health District and the San Joaquin County <br />Assessors Office, other printed data, and in conversations with <br />local agency staff, workers, passersby, and others who professed <br />knowledge of activities having occurred at the site during years <br />Past. <br />The property in question occupies the northeast corner of Charter <br />Way and Fresno Avenue in Stockton, California. The southernmost <br />portion of the westerly parcel abuts Charter Way and is presently <br />occupied by Bill's Bait Shop and a mobile home which is used <br />as a personal residence by the owner of the bait shop. <br />Particular note was taken of three underground fuel storage <br />tanks on site (one each of 500 gallon, 1000 gallon, and 5000 <br />gallon capacity) which, according to the owner of Bill's Bait <br />Shop, have been abandoned in place and slurry -filled after being <br />operated by the bait shop and (earlier) by the Signal oil <br />Company. Visual inspection of the fill pipes servicing the <br />abandoned (underground) fuel tanks revealed the presence of <br />sandlsoil. Although it is clear that soil may have entered <br />the fill pipe(s) following the introduction of slurry, it should <br />be noted that the filling cf underground tanks with sand was <br />464 Lindbergh Avenue V Livermore, Califomia 94550 0 (415) 455-4991 <br />
