1.0 INTRODUCI'IUN <br />All America Trenching (AAT) is the prime contractor on �jgr"iull <br />project and as such has the responsibility for ensuring overali sarety -r&rl •F <br />project workers and the public. The work to be performed will. be cerr(gll out <br />in accordance with the California hUFT Field Manual guidelines, U.S. E{i�3,A 9: 3 <br />6 <br />Regulations, ASTM Test Methods, and Slate and County Health requirements. <br />AAT will follow Standard Operating Procedures for excavations. Al the <br />beginning of the project, ambient air samples (background) will be taken <br />with a Photoionization Detector (PID) to determine the presence of airborne <br />contaminants. Personnel on site will take periodic readings with the PID <br />throughout the day to determine if any Increased airborne contamination is <br />present. <br />The provisions set forth in the plan will apply as minimum guidelines <br />for ail employees of All America Trenching and any subcontractors on this <br />project. Subcontractors may not modify these provisions without the written <br />concurrence of All America Trenching. <br />2.0 PROJECT SAFETY AUTIIORlI Y <br />A. On -Site Project Safetv <br />The personnel responsible for project safely are: <br />Mr. Steve Coldren, Project Manager <br />Project Safety Officer (AAT) <br />The project safety officer has the authority to suspend wort: any time he <br />determines the provisions of the plan are inadequate to ensure worker safely. <br />The Project Safety officer shall also inform the properly owner/client on <br />individuals whose conduct is not consistent with the requirements of the plan. <br />In addition, the Project Manager is responsible for the following: <br />Safety supplies and equipment Inventory <br />Medical surveillance program/Physical examinations <br />Training programs/hazard Communication <br />Accident/ Incident reporting procedures <br />Decontamination procedures <br />B. All America Trenching Safety Officer <br />The company Safety Officer reports to the All America Trenching Senior <br />Management and is responsible for overall safety and loss prevention <br />functions. His responsibilities Include: <br />- Health surveillance of all AAT employees <br />- Assuring that safety procedures in effect are in compliance with all <br />appropriate federal, stale and company regulations <br />- Maintenance of personnel exposure monitoring records <br />- Assuring appropriate personal protective equipment is adequate for <br />existing conditions <br />Assuring appropriate hazard areas are identified and marked <br />
