"' {1 Ms Lori Duncan
a Page 3 of 4
2 5 Groundwater Sampling
Groundwater samples were collected from each well after physical parameters had stabilized and the water
in the well had recovered to at least 80% of pre-purge levels Samples were placed in an ice chest at a
temperature of 4° Centigrade and submitted to Argon Laboratory under chain of custody protocol
The samples from newly installed wells MW5, MW6, and MW7 were analyzed for the presence of TPHg,
TPHd, TRPH, and VOCs, including oxygenated gasoline additives, using appropriate analytical methods
The samples from wells MW1, MW2, and MW4 were analyzed for the presence of VOCs pursuant to the
existing groundwater monitoring and sampling program Field development/purge logs are included in
Attachment B
3 0 GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
All groundwater samples were analyzed for VOCs and oxygenated gasoline additives using EPA method
8260B In addition, the newly installed wells were analyzed for TPHg and TPHd using EPA Method 801513,
BTEX using EPA Method 802113, and TRP14 using EPA Method 418 1 No sample was collected from well
MW3 due to the presence of free product
No petroleum hydrocarbons or gasoline additives were detected above method detection limits in
groundwater samples collected from any site wells (well MW3 excluded)
Tetrachloroethene (PCE)was detected in all site wells, ranging from 7 9 parts per billion (ppb) in upgradient
well MW5 to 110 ppb in well cross-gradient well MW7 Cis-1,2-dichloroethene (cis-1,2-DCE)ranged from
0 6 ppb in well MWS to 3 7 ppb in well MW6 Chloroform ranged from 0 7 ppb in well MW7 to 5 8 ppb in
well MW2 Trichloroethene (TCE) was detected in wells MW1, MW6, and MW7 at 0 9 ppb, 1 7 ppb, and
5 1 ppb, respectively No other VOCs were detected in any site wells Groundwater analytical results are
summarized on Table 3 Attachment C contains laboratory reports and chain of custody documentation
4 0 WASTE DISPOSAL
On June 12, 2003, American Valley Waste Oil removed and transported approximately 235 gallons of
product/water mixture and purged groundwater that was removed from site wells and temporarily stored on
site The liquid waste was transported off-site for disposal Attachment D contains copies of the waste
manifest and load ticket that document liquid waste disposal
On July 11, 2003, Thorpe Oil removed and transported waste soil generated from recent well drilling
activities to Forward Landfill, Manteca CA for proper disposal A copy of the non-hazardous waste
manifest is included in Attachment D
5 0 SUMMARY
Groundwater levels and the direction of groundwater flow beneath the site were generally consistent with
• historical measurements An average of 0 38 feet of free product was measured in well MW3 during the
reporting period A passive skimmer was installed in well MW3 on April 28, 2003 to remove free product
G 1GROUNDZEIGABBARDIreporlslQMR1200312QM2003 doc
