Two underground storage tanks were removed on May <br /> 27, 1986 . Soil and groundwater samples taken during the tank removal <br /> show that the groundwater has been cdntaminated with petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons . A site assessment will be necessary to define the <br /> vertical and horizontal extent of contamination . <br /> Prior to initiating any site assessment activity, a work plan and <br /> proposal must be submitted to this office and the Central Valley <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board .
