i
page 2, 2050 Fremont Street
On February 14 , 2002 a quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling event was
performed at the site. SJC/EHD personnel met with the technician on site to discover
what well had been sampled and labeled MW-1 . It appears that monitoring and
sampling of vapor extraction well VIEW-1 had been occurring and reported as MWA
However, the field technician found another, previously un-sampled well at the site. This
well is located on the ramp to the loading dock, just inside the warehouse doors, several
feet east of the former location of the soil vapor extraction (SVE) system . There also
appears to be another VEW well , located on the ramp to the loading dock but closer to
the former location of the SVE system. At the direction of SJC/EHD the field technician
purged and sampled the newly discovered monitoring well and labeled the samples MW-
1 . If you have any documentation concerning the identity of this well , or the replacement
of the original MWA , please forward it to SJC/EHD immediately. A new site map must
be prepared , that accurately depicts all well locations.
You are directed to submit a work plan for the abandonment and replacement of MW-3
and MW-12 and for the installation of the proposed monitoring wells. Include in the work
plan a proposal for feasibility studies for the remediation of the sites groundwater
contamination . You are also directed to complete a well survey to identify all domestic,
municipal , industrial , agricultural and any other wells located within a 2000-foot radius of
the site.
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran , REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
/ C'CGc ceL
l.Clt +.
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Margaret L orio, Supervising REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB
Jay Johnson , Stratus
