I
j
14 November 2014
AGE Project No , 07- 1529
Page 3 of 6
According to the General Order, a contingency plan is required to be implemented to
correct unacceptable water quality effects from ISCO applications. The contingency
plans should describe in detail actions that will be taken to bring any constituents
exceeding WQOs and limitations from the ISCO injections back into compliance with the
requirements of the General Order.
In addition to cessation of injections , if unacceptable conditions are observed during
progress/compliance monitoring , all monitoring wells showing negative effects will be
pumped in bulk until WQO' s are deemed acceptable by the RWQCB . Additionally future
injection events will be suspended until further comment and approval by the RWQCB .
As part of the contingency plan , monitoring frequency will be altered from quarterly to
monthly schedule to verify that bulk pumping has addressed the negative effects of any
injections.
CVRWQCB Comment 4: According to Site reports, other than well VEW-2 there does
not appear to be any downgradient monitoring wells screened across the water table
interface. Central Valley Water Board staff recommends installing property screened
monitoring wells to monitor potential contaminant migration in the shallow water bearing
zone downgradient of the site.
In accordance with the above recommendations , AGE recommends the installation of
two additional shallow screened wells . The locations of the wells are illustrated in Figure
2 . Installations procedures are provided below .
WELL INSTALLATION WORK PLAN
Based on Water Board requirements to obtain a waste discharge permit for ISCO
injections at the above referenced site , AGE has prepared this work plan detailing the
installation of two (2) ISCO injection wells , two (2) shallow groundwater monitoring wells
one (1 ) deep groundwater monitoring well . Procedures for the installations are provided
below.
SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of the work includes the drilling and installation of two (2) deep-screened
monitoring wells , one deep monitoring well and two (2) shallow groundwater monitoring
wells . The scope of work will include the following tasks :
• Permitting and pre-field work activities ;
• Pilot drilling ;
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc
