tW _10MIN
E'
.
w,
K-
' 3
Uec4ficatio,n R9 5-01
VOCs recovered from the contaminated soil can be calculated using the airflow
volumes apd VOC concentrations of the process airstreams during operation. If
a catalytic oxidizer is utilized, it would be a skid mounted unit to be located on
the roof of the AP building, pending regulatory agency approval.
8.0Clean-up
8.1 The clean-up standard would be established by San Joaquin County,Division of
EN I Environmental Health.
9.0 fi ion/Post Treat ent 5ampling
9.1 When off-gas levels show that air levels have been reduced to asymptotic levels,
surge testing would be conducted to indicate whether a concentrated source of
VOC retrains in the subsurface. If soil vapor concentrations do not rise to a
substantially higher level than the asymptotic concentration, post-treatment soil
borings would be taken at predetermined locations and analyzed for the possible
presence of TPHB. These locations would be as close as practical to the in&wtion
and extraction wells (front which pre-treatment samples were taken during
installation). Soil samples would be collected at depths corresponding to pre-
treatment sample depths.
The sampling protocol, sampling pian, and analytical plan would be in accordance
with the methods described in RWQCB guidelines, and be the satne as for other
soil sampling operations conducted throughout the project. Samples would be
eM analyzed in BSICs State-certified Analytical Laboratories, in Fresno, California.
i
10.0 Heallh and Safety Pan
10.1 This Health and Safety plan has been prepared to address health and safety
requirements during field operations, such as drilling and well installation when
workers could be exposed to volatile organic vapors (VOCs).
10.2 The working environment would be sampled with a detector tube for benzene
whenever petroleum fuel odor is observed,or a change in odor level is observed.
If benzene is present above its Threshold Limit Value('TLV),the plan would be
reviewed and upgraded as appropriate by an industrial hygienist(CIH) ce.tified
in general practice by the American Board of industrial Hygiene.
- 10.3 The requirements of this Health and Safety Plan may change as work progresses
due to changing work conditions, but no changes would be made without the
approval of the Engineer.
B-8 REMEDIATION
SERVICES.
