4a.
.. c
F -
EXECUTIVE 3UNUKA RY
i
Western Geologic Resources,Inc.(WGR)conducted a subsurface investigation in May and, lune
1994 at the Apache Plastics,Inc.(API)manufacturing facility located at 2050 East Fremont Street E
in Stockton,California. The purpose of this investigation was to further evaluate the lateral and
horizontal extent of fuel hydrocarbons beneath the API facility and to evaluate if fuel hydrocarbons
were migrating off-site in the estimated downgradient direction, The subsurface investigation i.
included the following.
pq Drill three soil borings,B-5,B-6 and B-7 and complete the borings as monitor wells MW-5,
MW-6 and MW-7,respectively.
• Develop all new monitor wells.
• Collect liquid samples from all new and existing monitor w.11s,which include MW-1,MW-2,
and MW-4 through MW-7. No groundwater sample could be obtained from monitor well
MW-3,as it was dry.
4 {
A total of twelve soil samples were analyzed from the three soil borings drilled to a maximum depth
of 72 ft. Total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPPH), as gasoline, and benzene, toluene,
w ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX)were not detected in any of the soil samples analyzed. Total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH),as diesel, were detected in the four soil samples analyzed from
' boring E-7 at a concentration of 20 parts-per-million(ppm).
as On 15 June 1990 liquid hydrocarbons, characterized as gasoline, were detected floating on top of
s
the water column in well MW-1, located adjacent to the former underground fuel storage tank
location. TPPH was detected in the groundwater samples from monitor well MW-5 imide the API
v
building and well MW-7 to the west of the API site on the Port Stockton Food Distributor property
at concentrations of 1,500 parts-par-billion(ppb)and 460 ppb, respectively. TPPH was not dotected
in groundwater samples from MW-2,MW-4 and MW-6 located on the cast side of the API building.
Benzene was detected in the groundwater samples from monitor wells MW-6 and MW-7 at
066RU A.va
w
J
