' QUARTERLY REPORT
., APACHE PLASTICS L.P.
' 2050 East Fremont Street
Stockton, CA
ITHIRD QUARTER 1996
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
11
This report discusses groundwater and vapor extraction monitoring during the third quarter of 1996 at
' the Apache Plastics manufacturing facility in Stockton, California The report was prepared by
Upgradient Environmental Consultants under contract no 96004
' The VR Systems vapor extraction unit operated for 81 days (1,596 hours) between July 1 and
September 30, 1996, withdrawing approximately 3,852,360 cubic feet of soil vapor from the two
extraction wells Approximately 691 pounds of hydrocarbons were destroyed The unit was operated
and maintained by Apache Plastics personnel The unit's on-board computer monitored all essential
parameters except vapor concentration, which was manually monitored by Upgradient personnel on a
weekly basis, using a portable photo-ionization detector These data, along with laboratory analysis of
' a vapor sample collected in August, were used to assess the efficiency bf the system
Groundwater was monitored in August Water was present in the deep vapor extraction well and in all
M six monitoring wells A water sample was collected only from MW-5 Gasoline and other contaminants
were detected , but at somewhat lower concentrations than in previous quarters
Depth measurements indicate that the water table was not planar, but formed a trough trending
southeast across the site at a slope of 0 0015 ft/ft The depth to groundwater averaged almost 58 feet
1
1 1 -
