Mr Ronald Rowe Project 22640-100 001
• May 21, 1999
Page 3
Borings were converted to 2-inch diameter monitoring wells constructed using schedule 40
polyvinyl chloride casing Screen intervals were selected based on PID/FID readings and
lithology The wells were installed to depths of 105 (MW-9) and 106 (MW-8) feet bgs
Monitoring wells were developed and sampled on April 9, 1999, consistent with methods
presented in Appendix C Well development and sampling field sheets are presented in
Appendix D Groundwater samples were submitted to a state certified analytical
laboratory using appropriate chain of custody documentation
Soil and groundwater (HydroPunch and monitoring well) samples were analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) lasing CA/LUFT, benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX) using USEPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenates (tert-
butyl alcohol [TBA], methyl tent-butyl ether [MTBE], di-isopropyl ether [DIPS], ethyl tert-
butyl ether [ETBE], and tert-amyl methyl ether [TAME], using USEPA Method 8260
One soil sample from each boring was analyzed for Soluble Threshold Limit
Concentrations (STLC) for BTEX and fuel oxygenates
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil samples from boring B-1 contained detectable concentrations of TPHG ranging from
13 to 1000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) BTEX constituents were detected in soil
samples from B-1 in the following ranges benzene 0 79 to 10 mg/kg, toluene 3 7 to 68
mg/kg, ethylbenzene 0 36 to 22 mg/kg, and total xylenes 2 3 to 120 mg/kg
TPHG was not detected in any soil samples from boring B-2 BTEX constituents were
detected in one sample (B-2 102 ft bgs) as follows benzene 0 049 mg/kg, toluene 0 025
mg/kg, ethylbenzene 0 016 mg/kg, total xylenes 0 019 mg/kg Benzene was detected in
sample B-2 82 ft bgs at a concentration of 0 006 mg/kg No other BTEX constituents were
detected
Neither MTBE nor other fuel oxygenates were detected in any soil samples
HydroPunch groundwater samples contained detectable concentrations of TPHG, BTEX,
and fuel oxygenates MTBE and Tert-Butyl Alcohol TPHG concentrations in HydroPunch
samples from B-1 were 120,000 micrograms per liter (ugh) at 70 It bgs and 21,000 ug/1 at
100 ft bgs Benzene concentrations were 15,000 ug/1 and 2,100 ugh at 70 ft and 100 ft,
respectively
•
ME IAPACii1;1REP0RTSWACP102 DOC-98Usg 1 Emcon
