Your effort and committment in environmental responsibility is genuinely
appreciated by our Department.
BTW, Could you do me a favor and send me photos of the blanked off/ flanged off pipings like we had
discussed. The photo you sent me only showed the closed and date marking. One of the conditions for
closure is to flange off or blank off all pipings.
Also, should not be too relevant to you at this point, but FYI here's the fire codes in the event you guys
decide to remove the tank in the future (which may change since new codes are being adopted for 2011):
FYI 2007 CA Fire Code Chapter 34
3404.2.14.1 Removal.
Removal of above -ground and underground tanks shall be in accordance with all of the following:
1. Flammable and combustible liquids shall be removed from the tank and connected
piping.
2. Piping at tank openings that is not to be used further shall be disconnected.
3. Piping shall be removed from the ground.
Exception: Piping is allowed to be abandoned in place where the fire code official
determines that removal is not practical. Abandoned piping shall be capped and
safeguarded as required by the fire code official.
4. Tank openings shall be capped or plugged, leaving a 0.125 -inch to'/4-inch-diameter
(3.2 mm to 6.4 mm) opening for pressure equalization.
5.
