1 Purpose <br /> This procedure outlines the necessary actions and safety practices for pressure <br /> testing NCPA CT1 underground diesel fuel oil piping at the Alameda and Lodi CT <br /> power plants. <br /> 2 Responsibility <br /> This procedure applies to all NCPA Personnel and contractors responsible for <br /> pressure tests. <br /> 3 Discussion <br /> In order to ensure the integrity of underground petroleum piping at the CT 1 <br /> Power Plants, NCPA will perform pressure testing. NCPA will be using diesel #2 <br /> as the test medium. The testing procedures adopted by NCPA follow API, <br /> ASME, and NFPA recommended standards and practices. The procedure also <br /> outlines proper safety practices that must be followed in order to minimize risks. <br /> 4 Requirements <br /> Tools and Equipment <br /> • All personnel within the test area shall be required to wear eye, hearing, head <br /> personal protective equipment (PPE). <br /> • All equipment required to conduct the pressure test are mounted within a <br /> mobile trailer. This equipment includes: a gas powered utility pump, <br /> pressure gauges, and connection hoses. <br /> 5 Ensuring Safety of the Work Site <br /> Pressure testing can be dangerous and should be performed with caution and <br /> careful attention to all safety procedures. To ensure the safety of all workers, the <br /> following precautions must be completed prior to conducting the pressure testing: <br /> 1 . Notify all personnel onsite of area to be avoided due to risks during pressure <br /> testing. Remove all persons not directly involved with the test from the <br /> immediate test area. <br /> 3 MAY 2320i6 <br />
