The API 653 has a formula to calculate the life expectancy based on corrosion rate. If the corrosion rate
is low and the corrosion allowance, excess tank wall thickness, is high you can get very high expected
tank life. The tank requires inspection at a minimum of every 20 years by the API 653 standard.
John
From: Vinnie Venethongkham fmailto:Vinnie.Venethongkham@ncpa.com]
Sent: Wednesday, September 14, 2016 5:53 PM
To: John Strandberg <rwaterguy@rwaterguy.com>
Subject: Re: Questions on the SPCC Plan and API Report
Please answer the last question as well. They
were comparing the previous plan, specially, the sources listed were not the
same. Please help me address these questions:
1. Why is the gas compressor not listed as a source on table, page 19?
2. Why is the turbine lube oil tank not listed as a source on table, page 19? Is it
included with source 7, Oil Cooler?
3. Question on the Diesel Fuel Storage Tank API 653 Inspection Report, Page
3. Why is the estimated remaining life 599.898?
Thank you,
Vinnie
CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This communication with its contents may
