Your Report
recommends shutting off the SVE system, continuing the groundwater extraction (GWE) pump and treat
remediation for hydraulic control, and reducing groundwater monitoring from quarterly to semi-annually in
several monitoring wells. The CAO requires approval from the Executive Officer prior to shutting down any
remedial system.
I concur with staff recommendations in the attached memo, and in accordance with Cleanup and Abatement
Order No. 5-00-704, approve the Chevron Products Company, Ivern and Roger Baffoni request to cease operation
of the SVE system. After the soil/groundwater modeling and GWE system rebound test (Staff Comments 2 and 3
of enclosed memorandum) have been conducted and the report(s) have been reviewed by Regional Board staff, I
can reconsider Chevron's request to reduce groundwater monitoring, or consider a request for no further action
required at this site.
If you have any questions please contact James Barton at (916) 255-3115 or bartonj(iurb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
, r , -L
fll "
1 pvv),
THOMAS R.
