January 9, 2002
Project 077.43452.570
Mr. Marty Hartzell
Regional Water Quality Control Board
(RWQCB)-Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
ILIXE: Final Remediation Plan Addendum
Former Chevron #9-5775
301 West Kettleman Lane
Lodi, California
Cleanup and Abatement Order No. 5-00-704
Dear Mr. Hartzell:
E
S COR
International Incorporated
JAN 14 2002
ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
This letter, prepared by SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) on behalf of
Chevron Products Company (Chevron), presents a second addendum to the problem
assessment report/final remediation plan (PAR/FRP) dated September 22, 2000. The
most recent previous addendum was dated June 5, 2001. The changes proposed in this
current addendum were discussed in our November 13, 2001 meeting and are as
follows:
• Due to the declining concentrations of constituents of concern both onsite and
offsite, the design and installation of an offsite remedial system, as proposed in
the June 5, 2001 addendum, will be postponed indefinitely.
• Offsite monitoring wells located on the south side of West Kettleman Lane with
confirmed concentrations of methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE) at or above 5
micrograms per liter (ug/1) may be subject to interim remediation consisting of a
batch extraction of groundwater. If batch extraction fails to sufficiently reduce
MtBE concentrations, additional remedial measures, including the possible
installation of an offsite remedial system, will be considered and discussed with
the RWQCB.
2301 Leghorn Street, Mountain View, CA 94043 650.691.0131 650.691.9837 Fax www.secor.com
