The Addendum was submitted in accordance with our
agreements at our meeting with you on 12 October 2000. In our meeting, we agreed to postpone the remedial
well installation work, and add additional investigation activities to complete the lateral and vertical definition of
contamination both on-site and off-site. Results of this work will be used to prepare a complete, revised Problem
Assessment Report/Final Remediation Plan that is due to this office by 4 December 2000.
As presented in the Workplan and Addendum, Secor proposes to install a third interim groundwater extraction
well, one sentinel well, and ten monitoring wells. The extraction well will be installed on-site near existing
monitoring well MW -1, and screened from 60 to 80 feet. The extraction well will be connected to the existing
interim remediation system, and operated until the final remedial alternative is approved and initiated. The
sentinel monitoring well will be installed near existing monitoring wells MW-8A/8B, and continuously cored
from 50 feet to 220 feet. Upon completion of the boring and review of subsurface lithology observed from the
core, the screened interval for the sentinel well will be determined. The ten added monitoring wells will also be
continuously cored from 50 feet to the proposed depth of the boring.
The Workplan and Addendum are approved as presented. Please contact Harlin Knoll at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division and me at least two business days prior to any site work or sampling to schedule a
field inspection appointment.
