Chevron Products Company 13
Former Chevron Service Station #9-5775,301 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California June 5, 2001
3 was initiated on July 3, September 22, and November 28, 2000, respectively Extracted
groundwater is routed through a particulate filter, then three 2,000 -pound liquid phase activated
carbon vessels plumbed in series as A, B, and C
As of March 28, 2001 (1st quarter 2001), the GWE system had treated a total of 1,530,569 gallons
The system has extracted an estimated 5 59 pounds of TPHg, 0136 pounds of benzene, and 66 11
pounds of MtBE (Table Q-1, Attachment Q) Plots of GWE system mass removal trends and
influent groundwater TPHg, benzene, and MtBE concentrations versus time are shown on Figures
Q-1 and Q-2, respectively (Attachment Q).
5 1 1 GWE System Radius of Influence
Between November 13 and 27, 2000, SECOR conducted an aquifer test to estimate various aquifer
parameters (SECOR, Aquifer Test Report, dated March 30, 2001) Results of the parameter
analysis for the constant -rate pumping test are summarized in Table Q-2 (Attachment Q)
Background data for all the wells showed that the influence of pumping from Well 12 was
observed in wells MW -1, MW -5A, MW -8B, and EX -3 The drawdown effects observed from
pumping at Well 12 were 10, 0 4, 0 3, and 0 1 feet in wells MW -8B, MW -5A, EX -3, and MW -1,
respectively No influence from the municipal well pumping was observed in wells MW -5B,
MW -8A, and MW-14/EX-2 Changes in barometric pressure were observed to Influence the water
levels in the shallow screened wells (MW-14/EX-2, MW -1, and MW -SA) No such influence of
the barometric pressure was observed on water levels in the deeper screened wells (MW -5B and
MW-8B)
As part of the aquifer test, SECOR also conducted a capture zone analysis to estimate the capture
zone created from remediation efforts To evaluate capture zone, SECOR utilized the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WHPA modeling program module Multiple Well
Capture Zone (MWCAP) MWCAP is designed to provide efficient delineation of capture zones
for one or more pumping wells in homogeneous aquifers Assuming steady-state conditions,
pumping from EX -3 at a constant rate of 8 5 gpm would create a capture zone that extends
approximately 130 to 150 feet downgradient of EX -3 and have a cross-sectional width of
approximately 400 feet The resulting capture zone is presented on Figure Q-3 within Attachment
Q
5.2 SVE System Operation
The SVE system is comprised of four vertical SVE wells (VE -1 through VE -4), a 5 horsepower
(hp) positive -displacement blower, and a Falco 100 catalytic oxidizer The SVE system is
permitted by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) for operation
through May 5, 2010 (Permit No N4343-1-0)
