Current and historical analytical information is presented as Table 1.
Between April 25 and May 30, 2001, the GWE system discharged a total of 487,081
gallons of treated groundwater over a period of 31 days (Table 2). As of May 30, 2001,
the GWE system has treated a total of 2,273,938 gallons. Calculated discharge rates
during the May monitoring period ranged from 7.34 to 8.28 gallons per minute (gpm).
During the May monitoring period the system extracted approximately 0.59 pounds of
TPHg, 0.006 pounds of benzene, and 5.32 pounds of MtBE. To date, the system has
extracted approximately 6.51 pounds of TPHg, 0.145 pounds of benzene, and 75.09
pounds of MtBE.
Discharge of Ethanol and Methanol
As discussed with Mike Schafer with the City of Lodi during April 2001, discharges of
methanol and ethanol to the industrial sewer system at concentrations similar to those
found in the remediation system's effluent stream do not constitute a significant threat to
the local treatment system. In accordance with this conversation, discharges of low
concentrations of methanol and ethanol are not considered violations of the discharge
limitations. The presence of ethanol and methanol is thought to be attributed to the
decay of plant material, and is believed to be unrelated to the former Chevron service
station.
System Modifications
There have been no system modifications during the May discharge period.
Summary of Violations
There have been no violations of the discharge limitations during the May discharge
period.
1:1Chevron19577510&M\Discharge Reporls\May-2001Oscharge Repart.doc
