4ZI GE TTL ER - RYAN <br />• <br />October 12, 2000 <br />Mr Bob Cochran <br />Chevron Products Company <br />P O Box 6004 <br />San Ramon, CA 94583 <br />INC. <br />Subject: Third Quarter 2000 Site Update for Former Chevron Station #9-5775, 301 West <br />Kettleman Lane, Lodi, CA (Cleanup and Abatement Order #5-00-704) <br />Mr Cochran <br />This site summary report has been prepared Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) at the request of Chevron Products <br />Company (Chevron) as required in the subject Cleanup and Abatement Order (CAO) During the third <br />quarter 2000, the soil vapor and groundwater treatment system installed at the site during the second quarter <br />became operational This report documents the startup of the treatment system, and operation and <br />maintenance of the treatment system during the third quarter 2000 <br />The subject site is a former Chevron service station situated on the northwest corner of S Pleasant Avenue <br />and W Kettleman Lane (Figure 1) Former station facilities consisted of a station building, two dispenser <br />islands, three 10,000 -gallon fuel underground storage tanks (USTs) and one 550 -gallon waste oil UST <br />During station demolition in 1998, impacted soil was identified beneath the former fuel USTs <br />Prior to the third quarter 2000, a total of 11 onsite and 8 offsite groundwater monitoring wells, one onsite <br />groundwater extraction well, and four on-site soil vapor extraction wells were installed in the study area <br />Locations of pertinent site features are shown on Figure 2 The site is currently being redeveloped into a <br />automotive service business including carwash and oil change facilities Installation of the remedial systems <br />and associated piping was conducted concurrently with site redevelopment <br />Remedial efforts at the site consist of removal and treatment of hydrocarbon -impacted groundwater and soil <br />vapor as required under Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) Cleanup and <br />Abatement Order (CAO) #5-00-704 Currently, the groundwater system (GWS) extracts impacted <br />groundwater from wells EX -1 and MW -14 Extracted groundwater is routed through a particulate filter, then <br />three 2,000 -pound liquid phase activated carbon vessels plumbed in series Chevron discharges treated <br />groundwater to the industrial sewer under City of Lodi Wastewater Discharge Permit 9295 Locations of <br />the treatment system compound and wells EX -1 and MW -14 are shown on Figure 2 A GWS schematic is <br />shown on Figure 3 <br />The soil vapor extraction system (VES) consists of a catalytic oxidizer Soil vapors are extracted from wells <br />VE -1 through VE -4 Treated vapor stream effluent is discharged to the atmosphere under San Joaquin <br />346408 07 <br />6747 Sierra Court, Suite J - Dublin, California 94568 - (925) 551-7555 <br />
