Chevron Products Company 3
Former Chevron 9-5775, 301 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi CA Apnl 28, 2000
is OXYGEN DIFFUSER INSTALLATION
The oxygen diffuser will be constructed from LDPE wrapped around perforated 3 -inch
diameter tubing The diffuser tubes will be placed at the bottom of the well's screened
interval and will extend for 4 feet A low -flow diaphragm pump will be placed at the
bottom of the well to provide 0 25 gallons per minute (gpm) flow on a constant basis
The diffusers will be placed in each well and monitored on a monthly basis The
oxygen tank will be placed in the well, charged with oxygen, and connected to the
diffuser with a safety -shut-off valve should the tubing burst The system will be run
using minimal power requirements, and on a continuous basis The diffusers are
expected to require low maintenance and operate with the oxygen load for one month
The oxygen diffusers in the four wells on the southeastern side of the property will not
use pumps due to the lower level of contamination observed in this area
MAINTENANCE AND MONITORING
The required maintenance for the oxygen diffusion system will include oxygen tank
replacement, pump inspection, and tubing inspection Operation of the oxygen diffusers
will be automated (a timer for the pumps will be housed in the treatment compound at
the Site) Oxygen tanks will be replaced on a monthly to bimonthly basis depending on
the consumption rate Groundwater will be monitored on a quarterly basis as part of the
40 routine quarterly monitoring Dissolved oxygen, DO, and oxidation reduction potential,
ORP, will be monitored during quarterly monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of the
oxygen diffusers
•
DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORT PREPARATION
The data collected from the treatment will be analyzed to assess the effectiveness of
oxygen diffusion treatment on TPH, BTEX, and MtBE The quantity of oxygen added
will be compared to the quantity of hydrocarbons predicted to be in groundwater and the
capillary fringe of the areas addressed by the treatment, this comparison will provide a
crude mass -balance on the effectiveness of the reactants
The report would include a description of the methodologies employed, laboratory
analytical results and field data, and data analysis of oxygen diffusion effectiveness
SCHEDULE
SECOR is prepared to initiate work upon installation of the oxygen diffuser wells
Subsequent timing of treatment will be dependent on agency approval, completion of
these activities is anticipated to require approximately fourteen months Data analysis
and reporting would be completed approximately three weeks after completion of the
monitoring and receipt of the laboratory analytical results
077 41991 500 9-5775wpaddendum2 doc
