,a If/i GE T TL ER - RYA N INC. <br />November 10, 1998 <br />Mr Brett L Hunter <br />Chevron Products Company <br />P O Box 5004 <br />San Ramon, California 94583 <br />Subject: Soil Sampling During Underground Storage Tank and Piping Removal at Former <br />Chevron Service Station # 9-5775, 301 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California. <br />INTRODUCTION <br />This report summarizes the results of a soil investigation performed following site demolition activities at <br />Chevron Service Station 4 9-5775 Field activities consisted of demolishing all aboveground facilities and <br />removing the underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated piping The scope of work performed by <br />Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) included observing removal of the USTs and product lines, collecting and <br />analyzing compliance soil samples, evaluating soil disposal options and coordinating disposal, and <br />preparing a report documenting the work The work was performed at the request of Chevron Products <br />Company (Chevron) to evaluate the possible impact to soil beneath the USTs and product Imes by <br />petroleum hydrocarbons <br />SITE DESCRIPTION <br />The subject site is located between South Lee Avenue and South Pleasant Avenue adjacent to Kettleman <br />Lane in Lodi, California (Figure 1) Former service station facilities consisted of a station building, three <br />dispenser islands, three gasoline USTs, one waste oil UST, and one abandoned waste oil UST All <br />subsurface and aboveground facilities were demolished and removed from the site <br />FIELD WORK <br />Sampling work associated with the site demolition activities was conducted by GR Sampling was <br />performed in accordance with the GR Field Methods and Procedures (attached), and the Site Safety Plan <br />All soil samples collected during this investigation were delivered under chain -of -custody to Sequoia <br />Analytical Laboratory in Walnut Creek (ELAP 41271) Analytical methods and results are summarized in <br />Table i Copies of the laboratory analytical reports and chain -of -custody records are attached Mr Eric W <br />Trevena of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) was present at the site <br />during UST removal and soil sampling activities Site demolition and soil excavation were performed by <br />Musco Excavators, Inc of Santa Rosa, California <br />UST Removal and Soil Sampling <br />• On August 24, 1998, five USTs and all associated piping were uncovered and removed by Musco <br />Excavators, Inc The tanks consisted of three 10,000 -gallon single-wall fiberglass gasoline USTs, one <br />1,000 -gallon single-wall fiberglass waste oil UST, and one 550 -gallon abandoned single-wall steel waste <br />346408 02 <br />6747 Sierra Court, Suite J - Dublin, California 94568 - (925) 551-7555 <br />
