It was dark and it was difficult to see the extent of the gasoline in the area to the south of the
tank area where farm equipment was stored. The gasoline may have extended out onto the plowed section on farm land.
Apparently,at about 2:30 a.m.,a person was trying to steal the gasoline from the tank by cutting the dispenser hose and
caused the gasoline to squirt out from the tank. The farm hands came out and scared the thief away. The tank continued to
release the gasoline until it was empty. The estimated loss from the tank was 400-500 gallons as the tank was
approximately half empty when the theft occurred.
Ron Marchini was advised to hire a cleanup company to remove the impacted soil as soon as possible. He stated he would.
Mr.Marchini was also advised to put absorbent on the areas of the spill where there was still some observable ponding to
minimize any additional absorption to ground. He stated he would do this right away.
On February 5,2007,Ron Marchini called and stated he had placed absorbent on areas of the spill where ponding was
observed. He also stated he hired Thorpe Oil to remove the impacted soil and will start on February 6,2007 in an attempt
to remove impacted soil prior to rain forecast for Wednesday,February 7,2007.
ER RECORD MODIFIED Page 3 of 3 02-05-2007
