WORK ACTIVITIES
The following is a brief description of the work activities to be perfonned at the site.
The field activities will consist of soil sampling. The soil samples will be collected using
shovels, trowels, and a hand auger. Using a hand auger,Clayton will collect soil samples
from the center of the excavation. A shallow soil boring, SB-I,will be advanced at this
location to approximately 3 feet below the bottom of the excavation(BE). Samples from
the boring will be collected at approximately 6 inches BE and 3 feet BE. Clayton will
collect a soil sample from each of the excavation sidewalls (samples SSI through SS4)
using a trowel at the center of each sidewall,at approximately 18 inches below the
ground surface(bgs). In addition,up to four shallow soil borings (SB-2 to SB-5)will be
advanced approximately 10 feet out from each of the excavation sidewalls. These
borings will be advanced to total depths of approximately 4 feet bgs. Soil samples will
be collected at approximately 1 and 4 feet bgs.
The sidewall soil samples will be transferred to glass jars that will be closed, labeled, and
placed into a chilled cooler. The soil boring samples will be collected at the selected
depths using a drive hammer sampler holding a brass sample tube. The drive hammer
will be used to drive the sampler into the soil filling the brass tubes. When full, the tubes
PL\SAES\PR0JEM\M5`05319 SJ CountyWASPAm
