..I sw
Site Remediation Report.,. ` Closure Request
1881 E. Market Street, Stockton
1.0 Introduction
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this report is to present the completed site Remediation, discuss
soil confirmation results, and request closure for the site.
The goal of this report is to summarize the characterization of site after
Remediation, and secure closure of the site.
1. The site Remediation plan has been carried out. Soils have been removed to
a depth of thirty-six feet.
2. Approximately 80 cubic yards of native soil and thirty cubic yards of pea
gravel were removed from the excavation and sent to REMCO for treatment.
1.2 History
Custom Food Machinery, Inc., (CFM) is the current occupant at 1881 E. Market
Street, Stockton, CA. The property is owned by Plant K Partners, which is
closely related to CFM. The property was purchased form Tri Valley Growers,
TVG in 1989. TVG had purchased the property from bankruptcy proceedings of
California Canners and Growers, (Cal Can) in 1985.
During the sale of the property [TVG to Plant K Partners] it was determined that
a 1000 gallon underground gasoline tank was located on the site and that the
tank had leaked. TVG proceeded to remove the tank and surrounding soil to
what was believed to be acceptable and the hole was backfilled, with soil and
pea gravel, in 1986. Also during this time Beta Associates, a consultant working
for the buyer, made a soil boring adjacent to the tank. The Beta boring was
made to a depth of 55 feet, the drill log provides an excellent picture of the soil
geology. [The drill hole log is enclosed in the Appendix.]
On February 27, 1992 the San Joaquin County Health Department notified TVG
and CFM that additional work was warranted at the site.
Page 1
