. 1
5.2.3 Procedure--Observation log 10/26/95
The third boring hole was on the West end of the excavation. We again used
the six foot diameter auger. Due to the size of the auger the first two holes were
overlapped. The soil removal was much the(same as the East hole, with the
exception of the hydrocarbon smell. Only a slight smell of hydrocarbon was
detected, appearing at approximately sixteen'feet. Samples taken at sixteen
feet, (sidewall), and at hole termination (37 feet) were all non-detect for TPHG
and BTEX:
The hole was filled with control density fill.
5.2.4 Procedure--Observation log 10/27/95 .
Two final holes were made with a 24 inch auger, to remove the last of the soil
remaining between the six foot West and East borings. During these borings
little or no hydrocarbon odor was noticed. They were conducted to a depth of
thirty-seven feet. The borings were filled withi control density fill.
I
i,
Confirmation samples were taken from each of the boring terminus. Analytical
results were non-detect.
i
All boring were filled to approximately fifteen, feet below ground level. This was
the level of the native soil in the excavation prior to performing the current
4 Remediation. The filled borings were covered with pea gravel to a depth of
t approximately four to six inches below ground level. A four to six inch concrete
cap was placed over the entire excavation.
5.3 Stockpiled Soils
Removed soils wore temporarily stockpiled on site. ;'Soil piles were covered with plastic
to control/prevent airborne movement of soils.
Approximately 80 cubic yards of soils and 30 cubic yards of soil mixed with pea gravel
were pilled on-site.
After analytical data was received, REMCO was contacted and they approved the
material for Remediation at their site in Richmond. The certificate of remediation is
contained in the Appendix.
Page 7
4t
I
