PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Ernest M. Fujimoto, M.D., M.P.H., Acting Health Officer
445 N. San Joaquin Street • P. O. It appears from the estimated residual contamination calculated in the addendum that
approximately less than half a gallon of gasoline will remain in the soil at the site after the completion
of the proposed remedial action. Soil sampling results from the actual excavation may reduce this
estimated residual volume, and the need for additional fate and transport modeling should be
evaluated after this data has been collected and evaluated.
The material to be used to backfill the bucket augured holes must be approved by this office. Because
of the uncertainty of the type and quality of the fiyash additive, it is unlikely a flyash/cement mixture will
be allowed for use as a backfill material. In addition, a sand/cement mixture, if approved, will require a
special permit. Please include a complete description of the sand/cement mixture proposed for
use as backfill with the permit application. This will allow for a more timely review and
Issuance of the special permit.
As the public participation process has already been completed, the proposed work can be scheduled
to begin as soon as a permit is issued by this office.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Linda Turkatte, Senior REHS, at (209)
468-3441.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
r
Linda A.
