Site Code: 503357
Dear Sir:
On August 10, 1998, soil sampling was begun to implement the approved Work Plan for the above
stated site. All work covered by the approved Work Plan was completed by the end of the day on
August 11, 1998, Precision Sampling was retained to perform five push bores with related soil
sampling as per the attached site map. Onsite Environmental Laboratories, Inc. was hired to perform
soil sample analysis on the site for BTEX, TPHg, and Oxygenates by EPA Method 8260. Twenty-
nine soil samples were extracted from the push bores and analyzed. All samples were found non-
detectable for the targeted compounds.
At the request of the PHS/EHD, the area directly under the south end of Gasoline Tank # 3 was re-
sampled at a depth of 21 feet below the surface on August 21, 1998 (Results of the re-sampling are
shown on the attached recap). These samples were hand extracted from the excavator bucket after
+/-sixty yards of soil was excavated. Two additional samples taken from the area of the north tank
excavation wall are also shown on the recap.
REPORT OF SUN WEST LIQUORS SITE INVESTIGATION
HISTORY
Results of Tank Removal Soil Samples
At the time of removal, seven tank excavation soil samples were extracted. These samples were
analyzed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. of Modesto, California. Each tank excavation sample
was analyzed by EPA Method 8028, 7420, 5030/LUFT, and 8260 for gasoline. Two of the tank
excavation samples were determined to be above the detection limit (see Summary of Analysis
attached). Sample TK3S-14'was high in both BTEX and TPHg.
Results of Dispenser Piping Soil Samples
Seven soil samples were removed from under dispenser piping. Two of these soil samples indicated
very low levels of BTEX. Three of these samples were above the detection level for MTBE.
SITE INVESTIGATION TO DETERMINE EXTENT OF CO
Drilling and Sampling Methods
All push bores were extended to the depth of refusal or to a point twenty feet below the last
1
