1
' 05 October 2007
AGE-NC Project No.07-1537
' 2.2.2. Logging
Soil was extruded from a second stainless steel sleeve and then visually described in accordance with
the Unified Soil Classification System; boring logs are provided in Appendix D. Soil was not
screened for the presence of organic vapors, because the organic vapor meter(OVM)was inoperable.
' 2.2.3. Well Completions
' Pilot borings MW4 through MW6 were completed as single-level ground water monitoring wells
utilizing 2-inch diameter schedule 40 polyvinylchloride (PVC) 0.020-inch slotted screen installed
from approximately 30 to 50 feet bsg.A filter pack,consisting of 42/12 Lonestar sand,was installed
' from approximately 28 to 50 feet bsg. A nominal 2-foot bentonite seal (pell plug non-coated
bentonite pellets)was installed above the filter pack and hydrated. The well was then grouted to near
the surface with portland cement, and water-tight, traffic-rated well boxes were installed over the
' wells. The as -built well diagrams are depicted on the boring logs in Appendix D.
i2.2.4. Well Head Survey
' On 10 July 2007, a California state-licensed surveying engineer from Baumbach & Piazza, Inc
surveyed the location and elevation of monitoring wells MW-4 through MW-6; the global
positioning system(GPS)location was surveyed to the nearest 0.1-foot relative to coordinate datum
' NAD 83(1986)and the elevation at the top of the well casings were surveyed to the nearest 0.01 foot
relative to the City of Stockton Bench Mark# 182 at 15.77 feet above mean sea level (MSL). The
elevations of wells MW-4, MW-5 and MW-7 were determined to be 16.67 feet MSL, 16.47 feet
' MSL, and 16.03 feet MSL, respectively. Geo-coordinantes (X, Y and Z) files, and GeoMap, were
error-checked and uploaded to the State Water Board's Geotracker data base; the confirmation
numbers are 4125948846, 7348513543, and 8164248406.
3.0. FINDINGS
' A discussion of field and laboratory results of soil and grab groundwater samples collected from
CPT boring and pilot boring advancements are detailed below.
3.1. STRATIGRAPHY
'
Generally, the soil type encountered in pilot borings MW4 through MW6 was a dark yellow-
orange
' Advanced GcoEvironmental,Inc.
