Chapter
6.95 of the California Health and Safety Code_ Businesses in California which handle hazardous 4/ t
(5 J 9
materials above specified quantities are required to prepare hazardous materials management plans fff( I
for their employees' use in an emergency. The law requires the business to submit a copy of that
plan, along with an inventory of their hazardous materials, to the County agency tasked with
administering this program.
The State of California recently issued regulations standardizing the forms to be used to report your
hazardous materials inventory_ We must, therefore, ask businesses to resubmit their hazardous
materials inventories this year on this standard form. Because of this situation, we have taken the
opportunity to simplify and improve the Hazardous Materials Management Plan (f1Tv11VTP) that you
use to comply with the emergency planning portion of these requirements. The basic HMNIP now
consists of a two-sided form and the facility map.
Therefore, for this year's annual submission, you must complete and submit a new Hazardous
Materials Management plan (HMMP) and inventory to our office even if you have previously
submitted these documents. After this year, we will return to sending you an annual
certification packet for reporting changes only.
Tine enclosed submission packet contains forms that must be completed and submitted to our office
no later than 3anua" 15,1997- An instruction packet is also enclosed senesa f wsvrkstep hy s to
help in completing these forms. In addition. our office win be offering workshops
help you complete this State requirement. A list of workshop locations and dates is enclosed.
Your compliance with this program is required by law. If you have any questions, please call our
office at (209) 468-3969.
SAN JOAQLT]N COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES
Enclosures
