(AGE). and groundwater analytical data
submitted to Geotracker for the third quarter of 2008, and has the following comments.
The Report documents the installation of four shallow and one deep groundwater monitoring
wells, and one soil boring. Soil samples for analysis were collected during the drilling for the
groundwater monitoring wells; soil and grab groundwater samples were collected from the
soil boring (B-5). Reported analytical results indicate the area with significant petroleum
hydrocarbon impact to soil is near the former underground tank pit to a depth of 75 feet
below surface grade (bsg) (sample MW -11-75). The lateral extent of the shallow groundwater
contamination is most significantly undefined east of MW -5. Further monitoring and
sampling of MW -11 must be completed before the vertical extent of the dissolved
contamination can be fully evaluated.
In the Report, AGE recommends further investigation to define the vertical extent of the soil
contamination in soil. The EHD does not agree with this recommendation; the vertical extent
of the contaminant impact to soil is adequately defined below sample MW -11-75. The lateral
extent of the groundwater contamination remains undefined east of MW -5. Please proceed
with submittal of a work plan to install additional shallow groundwater monitoring well(s) to
define the lateral extent of the plume downgradient to MW -5. The work plan is due for
submittal no later than November 21, 2008. If you have any questions please call Lori
Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C.
