Airport Way
Stockton CA 95206
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC/EHD) has reviewed
Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan (Work Plan) dated March 15, 2007, submitted on
your behalf by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) and has the following comments.
In the Work Plan AGE proposes to continue the investigation of the vertical extent of the
contamination at this site with a cone penetrometer test (CPT) boring located near the
east end of the former tank #2 location. The proposed depth of the boring is 100 feet
below surface grade (bsg), but it will be extended if obvious signs of contamination are
present. Soil and grab groundwater samples will be collected for analysis from
appropriate lithological units. Previous work at this site has documented contamination in
this area to 65 feet bsg in the soil (boring B-1), and to 50 feet bsg in the groundwater (B-1,
MW -1, MW -2 and MW -3). The vertical extent of the contamination in both soil and
groundwater remains undefined.
The lateral extent of the contamination will be investigated with the installation of three
shallow groundwater monitoring wells. AGE proposes to install the wells to the east, or
downgradient, of the existing monitoring wells. Total depth of the wells will be 50 feet bsg
with 20 feet of screened casing. Soil samples for analysis will be collected to total depth
of the borings.
SJC/EHD approves the proposed CPT boring and monitoring well installations and
locations. Please proceed with submittal of a San Joaquin County Well Permit
Application, required $89.00 permit fee and $285.00 permit inspection fee for each C-57
licensed contractor who will perform work at the site.
In correspondence dated March 2, 2007 you were directed by SJC/EHD to resume routine
quarterly groundwater monitoring at your site. AGE has verbally confirmed that routine
monitoring and sampling will resume April 12, 2007. Routine quarterly groundwater
monitoring and sampling at this site must continue until directed otherwise by this agency.
You have also been directed to submit all site data and reports to Geotracker, the State
Water Resources Control Board database website, but none have been. Please proceed
with immediate submittal of all site data and reports to Geotracker.
