Ralph's Square -2- 21 April 2014
2211 S. Airport Way, Stockton
San Joaquin County
Our comment on the Work Plan is as follow;
1. AGE proposes two soil borings in the Work Plan text and shown on Figure 2. However,
Table 1 Soil Data shows that CPT-1, located 40' southeast of the USTs pit and 80' south
of MW-2, reported high soil concentrations in the first CPT-1 sample taken at 15' bgs.
We request a third boring be advanced near CPT-1 and a fourth boring be advanced to
the east between MW-2 and CPT-1 and samples collected at 5 and 10 feet below
ground surface to evaluate if a bio-attenuation zone is present. eftsf e,`7VALv- D
2. After reviewing the December 2009 Offsite Investigation Work Plan submitted by AGE
and approved by the SJCEHD, we do not concur with the proposal to install Boring B-5
with one grab groundwater sample to the east along Phelps Street. We request a new
work pian to investigate the downgradient extent of the MTBE groundwater plume, and
installation of monitoring wells to allow for the collection of repeatable groundwater data.
In summary, please submit the following:
• A revised offsite investigation work plan by 30 May 2014.
• An email with the schedule for the soil vapor wells and onsite borings installation
fieldwork by 15 May 2014.
• The second quarter 2014 groundwater monitoring report by 30 July 2014.
You may contact me by phone at (916) 464-4614 or by email at jim.barton(a-Dwaterboards.ca.gov
with your questions.
v'James L.L.
