Abdelwahed Facility, Ultramar Site No. 13792 May 9, 2013
Stockton California NFAR Request and Well Destruction Work Plan
boring were temporarily stockpiled on site on and covered with plastic sheet. After
completion of drilling, four discrete soil samples were collected from the stockpile for
disposal characterization.
The well was constructed of 4 -inch diameter PVC casing and 0.020 -inch slotted -pipe well
screen. The well screen was set over the interval 36 to 61 feet bsg. Well MW -13 construction
details are shown on the well log contained in Attachment D.
The soil samples were submitted, with chain -of -custody documentation, to Kiff Analytical
LLC (Kiff), a California Department of Health Services -certified (NELAP #08623CA)
analytical laboratory located in Davis, California. The 15, 30, 50, 55, and 60 -foot well bore
samples were selected for analysis for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) by
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method M8015 and for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), the volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), the fuel oxygenate methyl -t -butyl ether (MTBE), and the
lead scavenger compounds 1,2-dichloroethane (DCA) and 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) by EPA
Method 8260B. The four drill -cuttings samples were composited into one sample and
analyzed for TPHd by EPA Method M8015, TPHg, BTEX, MTBE by EPA Method 8260B
and total lead by EPA Method 6010.
Horizon developed and sampled groundwater from well MW -13 on 15 October 2012.
Development and sampling parameters were recorded on monitoring well data sheets
contained in Attachment E. Development of well MW -13 generated approximately 170
gallons of water which were transported to InStrat, Inc. in Rio Vista, California for disposal.
The non -hazardous waste manifest for the purge water is contained in Attachment E. The
groundwater sample was submitted with chain -of -custody documentation to Kiff. The sample
was analyzed for TPHd by modified EPA M8015, and for TPHg, BTEX, MTBE, and DCA by
EPA Method 8260B. Well MW -13 was sampled again during the fourth quarter 2012
groundwater monitoring event on 28 December 2012. The fourth quarter 2012 well data sheet
for well MW -13 is contained in Attachment E.
On 5 February 2013, the location and elevation of the well MW -13 casing were surveyed to
GeoTracker specifications by Virgil Chavez Land Surveying of Vallejo, California (PLS
6323). Horizon uploaded the monitoring well survey data to GeoTracker. The well survey
report contained in Attachment E.
The well and soil cuttings were profiled by Republic Services, Inc. for acceptance into
Forward Landfill in Manteca, California. The cuttings were assigned Waste Acceptance No.
10556 on 1 October 2012. On 14 February 2013, Horizon transported the cuttings to Forward
Landfill for disposal. The non -hazardous waste manifest and scale ticket are contained in
Attachment C.
Results of Additional Groundwater Investigation
State of California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Well Completion Report(s) for the
MW -1 destruction and the MW -13 installation are contained in Attachment D.
