This work was requested in the March 23, 1999 letter from the San <br />Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division <br />(PHS/EHD to Earthgrains. This letter is enclosed as Attachment 1. <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br />Information describing the site, former underground storage tanks (USTs), <br />previous investigation work, and groundwater conditions are presented in the <br />following sections. <br />Site Description <br />The facility is a bakery product plant located at 2651 South Airport Way in <br />Stockton, California (see Figure 1 in Attachment 2). The plant is situated within <br />Sections 22 and 23, Township 1 North, Range 6 East of the Mount Diablo Base <br />I and Meridian. The site has a general elevation of approximately 17 feet relative <br />to mean sea level (MSL). <br />The developed portion of the facility consists of approximately seven acres, which <br />is relatively flat lying, and is almost entirely covered with asphalt and concrete. <br />I The main facility building covers about two acres. An approximately 1,000400t - <br />long stormwater drainage ditch extends westerly along the south side of the <br />facility to an intermittent, south -flowing drainage canal.
