Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
Post Office Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
'Projeectt i2l3382/i 5997
Subject: Proposed Workplan Addendum For
Groundwater Monitoring Well Installations
Earth Grains/Rainbo Baking Company Facility
2651 South Airport Way
Stockton, (San Joaquin County) California
On behalf of the Rainbo Baling Company (Rainbo), Burlington Environmental
Inc. (Burlington) is submitting this workplan addendum to install groundwater
monitoring wells at the subject facility. The proposed monitoring wells will
augment the current monitoring well network and replace some site wells that
have been dry or intermittently dry due to recent drought conditions. Data
from the new wells will delineate the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon -
impacted groundwater at the facility, and provide information necessary for
it's subsequent remediation.
Site History
Groundwater monitoring at the site has been performed since 1987 following
the removal of two adjacent gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) located
near the southwest corner of the plant. Hydrocarbon leakage from one of the
USTs was originally suggested in 1986 based on a failed tank integrity test.
Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) installed the initial monitoring
well MW -1 in July 1987, and wells MW -2 and MW -3 in September 1987.
Monitoring well MW -1 is screened from a depth of 31 to 76 feet. Wells
MW -2 and MW -3 are screened from a depth of 22 to 55 feet. The depth to
groundwater in these wells was reported to be about 35 to 36 feet in
October 1987.
Anderson Consulting Group (ACG) installed monitoring wells MW -4 and
MW -5 in January 1988, MW -6 and MW -7 in February 1990, and MW -8 in
September 1990. Monitoring wells MW -4 and MW -5 are screened from a
depth of 23 to 53 feet, wells MW -6 and MW -7 are screened from 30 to 55
feet, and well MW -8 is screened from 35 to 60 feet. ACG submitted a
Problem Assessment Report, dated December 19, 1991, to the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) summarizing the results of
Burlington Environmental Inc.
® P.O.
