'... ,.001
Page 3
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
January 18, 1994
The monitoring wells will be developed by surging, swabbing, and pumping
until a non -turbid discharge is obtained. Development water will be contained
and sealed in 55 -gallon barrels at the site pending proper disposal. The new
monitoring wells will be surveyed relative to the arbitrary datum established
for the existing well network.
Selected soil and groundwater samples will be submitted to a state -certified
laboratory for analysis. Laboratory testing will include total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g using Method 8015-m), and benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX using Method 8020). A number of
other chemical and physical tests will be performed on certain soil and
groundwater samples to evaluate possible remedial alternatives. The chemical
tests include total organic carbon, nitrates/nitrites, phosphates, pH, alkalinity,
total suspended solids, acidity, iron, calcium, and magnesium. Physical tests
includes permeability and grain size analysis.
Following the completion of the field work and the sample testing, Burlington
will prepare a report for the SJCEHD summarizing our activities and results.
Burlington is currently awaiting competitive cost estimates from licensed
drillers to perform the monitoring well installations. Once a driller has been
chosen, Burlington will submit the appropriate well permit application and fee
to the SJCEHD.
If you have questions regarding this workplan addendum, or require additional
information, please call Mark Milward (Burlington) at (618) 281-7173.
Sincerely yours,
BURLINNGTON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
Mark F.
