r <br /> s <br />' APPENDIX A <br /> 1 Groundwater Sampling and <br /> Analysis Procedures <br />' INTRODUCTION <br />' The sampling and analysis procedures for water-quality monitoring programs are <br /> contained in this Appendix These procedures ensure that consistent and reproducible <br /> sampling methods are used, proper analytical methods are applied, analytical results are <br /> taccurate, precise, and complete, and the overall objectives of the monitoring program are <br /> achieved <br /> SAMPLE COLLECTION <br />' <br /> Sample collection procedures Include equipment cleaning, water-level and total <br /> well-depth measurements, and well purging and sampling <br />' Equipment Cleaning <br />' Pre-cleaned sample bottles, caps, and septa were provided by a Department of Health <br /> Services-approved laboratory All sampling containers were used once and discarded after <br /> analyses were completed <br /> Before starting the sampling event and between each event, all equipment to be placed in <br />' the well or come in contact with groundwater was disassembled and cleaned thoroughly <br /> with detergent water, steam cleaned with tap water, and rinsed with deionized water Any <br />' parts that may absorb contaminants, such as plastic pump valves or bladders, were cleaned <br /> as described above or replaced The water-level sounder and oil/water interface probe <br />' were washed with detergent and rinsed with distilled water before use in the each well <br /> The rinse water was stored in 55-gallon drums onsite and will be disposed of by the client <br /> 1 <br />' A-1 <br /> E NCTI IU212QTR96 DOC <br />
